New Website, New Patterns, and a New Blog!
Hello and a very warm welcome to my little corner of the internet!
I’m Millie and I’m the designer behind the screen.
I’ve been knitting and crocheting since my grandmother taught me as a child. She was born in the 1920s on a rural farm and taught me to knit in the days before the internet, so a lot of my initial knitting was going off extremely sparse patterns (anyone else remember those single page patterns at Michaels?) and reverse engineering. In college I taught my friends to knit and discovered the magic of local yarn shops. When I later become a mother, I found myself knitting for myself, my husband, and my three kids—all of us with individual body types. I would see a sweater in a store or on Pinterest and make it in my own way. I was still using the skills my grandmother taught me for reverse engineering when people started requesting patterns. And thus, Millie Murphy the knitting pattern designer was born.
My hope is that this blog is a place where I can share new patterns, videos and written tutorials for techniques used in my patterns, where I can post free patterns, and where I can post tester calls. At the bottom of this page is a newsletter signup form where you can subscribe to my email list to be alerted if you’d like.
I am so thrilled to start this new journey and look forward to many more blog posts.
